css - Why isn't the border value called thickness? -

one of values border property can accept in css called width, believe misleading , improper naming convention. here's definition of width:

width: measurement or extent of side side.

this makes absolutely no sense because can specify border-top-width , border-bottom-width; qualify measurement height, not width.

height: measurement base top.

is there reason border value isn't named thickness instead? accurate naming convention.

you should consider every aspect. because should light-weight , internatinal language, width more readable , memorizable thickness. it's being easy use , read
