html - SEO: Using style="background-url" instead of img with alt -

i have web app. images using html tag img , using alt attribute seo purposes.

now, redesigning our website improve user experience , our designer suggest replace img tags <div style="background-url(image)"> because using technique images no resized , on. however, see big disadvantage using approach loose alt attribute, , directly impact in our seo.

any suggestions?

depending on how control require on image decide me. can still resize , control html img tags through css.

you have more control on image cropping, positioning, animation effects etc background images if design requires image resize depending on screen size should still able achieve html img tags.
